This past month has flown by. It’s time to kick off the fun season. Where early access drops are a plenty, insanely cheap game sales are the norm, and a metric ton of free giveaways are happening around the web. In addition, we have the Video Game Awards, which almost always announce something big. Get ready for some fun times this December!
We had another great year of Extra Life almost bringing in 1,800 for the Children’s Miracle Network. We’ll still be taking donations up to Jan 1st here. Now that that’s past us, it’s time for the Great Server Migration to begin! If you missed the news earlier this month, check it out here. Be sure to choose your prizes if you won during the Extra Life!
The Community Conference Delayed
With the great migration taking place over December, there’s no way for me to pull off the Community Conference and the migration. Therefore, I’m postponing the conference to January 25th. I’m hoping this will provide me the time I need after the dust settles to produce the show.
The Horizon
We’ve seen some pretty cool announcements come our way, including Ashes of Creation’s drop onto Early Access. Let’s do a quick rundown on what’s going on in our community this month.
House of Warfare
Ashes of Creation - Dec 11th
Now not everyone is going to be jumping on board, but I will be diving in and scheduling a few streams so we as a community can explore it and make the decision if this is a place we want to call home. Stay tuned for that announcement. I will be joined by SirHenryVale, HousecarlKarl, Mika, Donaliam, Seacoral, and Trithian as we dive into this game and examine its potential.
Conqueror’s Blade - Crown & Cross Conclusion
The season is coming to an end, and next season appears to be when the two-handed bastard sword makes its way into Conqueror’s Blade as a hero weapon. A developer video teased the making of the class, so we should be able to look forward to that in the near future. That said, December-January, I’ll be migrating Conqueror’s Blade Hub, so my usual new season preview may be delayed.
World of Sea Battle
This past month, Gaiscioch formed a clan in World of Sea Battle, the new open sea MMO. Gaiscioch is looking for members to join us so we can launch into the trade guilds before finding a faction to throw our weight behind. If you like Sea Dogs, Black Flag, or Pirates but wish it was an MMO, then check this one out. It’s has PvE only areas and PvP areas for those who want to compete. Certainly worth trying.
House of Mysticism
Guild Wars 2 - Visions of Eternity
The party never stops in Guild Wars 2. Our community is riding on full these days with the afk window shrinking to below 3 months for the first time since launch. We are constantly having to rotate people out to make room for new players. For those returning, hit any of us up for an invite. Everyone can invite. Over the course of December, my activity is going to be sporadic as I’ll be traveling for a good chunk of it but I do want to get some story events in the books to help people get through the latest story chapters with the expansion.
Guild Wars Reforged - Dec 3rd
If you’ve ever been curious about the original Guild Wars, now’s the time to jump in. Guild Wars Reforged is launching on Dec 3rd, and our community has an active group of players playing weekly together. Get involved and see the events unfold that shape the world of Guild Wars 2.
Where Winds Meet
This quiet little game with astonishing graphics and creative gameplay mechanics snuck up on many and appeared out of nowhere. While it does have a guild system and some open-world areas where you can play with others, it’s largely considered a co-op game. It is, however, one of the most beautiful and wonderfully written free games we’ve seen in a long time. Check it out for yourself and join Gaiscioch in-game to find others to play with.
House of Artisanship
Enshrouded - Wake of the Water Launched
For those who didn’t know, Gaiscioch has a private server available. I welcome you to join us using the password “family”. We have a main Gaiscioch base labeled as Gaiscioch HQ on the map. Please build up your houses there. We use the other bases as teleport locations to important areas. The only base we plan to keep is that one, so please make sure to build around it. You can adopt one of the many rooms if you like or even help us make the place home. This is a collaborative effort, and all help is welcome. Come explore the Wake of the Water with us!
Echoes of Elysium - Dec. 4
Survive the skies in Echoes of Elysium, a co-op airship survival RPG. Build and customize your floating fortress, gather resources, and explore a vast procedural clockwork world with up to 6 friends. Battle land and skyborne threats while uncovering mysteries in a paradise on the brink.
Cloudheim
Ragnarok shattered the world, and the gods have chosen you to shape the next one. Cloudheim is a 1-4 player action adventure that blends crafting with chaotic physics-based combat. Awaken forgotten deities, drive back corruption, and upgrade your shop in the sky to bring harmony to a broken realm.
Steam
House of Discovery
StarRupture - Jan 6. (Sign up for Playtest Now)
StarRupture is a first-person open-world base-building game with advanced combat and tons of exploration. Play alone or in a group on this sublime and ever-changing planet, extract and manage resources, create your complex industrial system and fight off hordes of alien monsters.
House of Shadows
PIONER - Dec. 16
If you were a fan of Stalker and always wished they made a multiplayer version, well, meet the overachiever PIONER. PIONER drops players into a vast, grim world, where survival hinges on exploration, crafting, and smart resource management. As an MMO FPS, it offers both PvE missions and intense PvP zones, with unique crafting mechanics, hundreds of weapons, and a deep story to explore.
